May, 2011
Camping season started with a very good turnout for Show & Tell weekend at Ray and Carol Wakley’s RV Center. The RVs of Carnahan, Frey, Green, Hazen, Koebley, Malek, Marshall, Regal, Rembold, Stuntz, Throop, and Tirpak were all camped around the parking lot. Several had come in earlier in the day to have some work done on their units. Also coming in for the day were the Browns and the Wilts. Kathy Plant came on Saturday but without her motor home. The afternoon was spent in catching up on the latest news and touring the new Winnebagos.
At 5 pm we congregated for a photo shot celebrating the Show & Tell event. The picture and brief write-up will appear in the August-September WIT magazine. We then went to St. Joe’s Club for dinner of Fish Fry and salad bar.
On Saturday morning we enjoyed coffee and doughnuts provided by Ray and Carol in their “Rendezvous” room. Again the new motor homes were open for inspection. Unfortunately it was another rainy day and only a few outsiders came to see them. Lunch was on your own but we met again in the party room for a wine tasting late in the afternoon. At 7 pm Carol treated us to a home cooked dinner and it was great! After dinner we played “heads or tails” to see who would win the big
basket of North East products. Lucky me! After choosing tails I finally decided to switch to heads and won. As a final treat, their son and his date and another couple arrived all dressed up for their prom. They were driven to it by chauffeur Ray in no less than a 2000 Winnebago Ultimate Freedom motor home (formerly Jim and Betty Marshall’s).
On Sunday morning we had a pitch-in breakfast before heading home.
We thank Ray and Carol for such a great weekend. If you have never attended a Show & Tell Weekend before , then be sure to put it on your calendar for next year!

The Lake Erie WITs will stay June 12-14 at the rally for a club campout.
A phone call from Velma Koebley says that Geraldine (Gerry) Balliet passed away during emergency surgery. We remember her from attending planning sessions and the rally. Our condolences to her husband Willis and family.
